I think I’ve mentioned before that I am a Marvel comics fan. I’ve really tried to be into DC stuff. Again today, it being comics day, I will stand a few moments before the DC section of the store looking for something to like. I want to make it clear: I WANT to collect a DC title, but something about them just turns me away, and I can’t quite figure out what it is. I’m not going to dwell too long on it, because I don’t want to turn this into a DC bashing blog, but there you go.

I follow artists, as I have said. Some of my favorites include:

– Ed McGuinness, Who caught my eye back when he was drawing Superman (See? I do TRY to like DC) He is currently working on Amazing X-Men. If you like Nightcrawler as a character, definitely get on board with this one.

Chris Bachalo. He has been a favorite ever since I caught his own title: Steampunk Years ago. These days he is doing a lot of the drawing on Ultimate X-Men. I followed him on his launch run of Wolverine and the X-Men

Stuart Immonen. He is a new one for me. I picked up All New X-Men kinda on a whim. He and Brandon Peterson have kept me coming back to the title in a big way, though.

These are the folks that I am trying to emulate, to be more like. They could be drawing ANYTHING and I would collect it. So, I say, it’s not my fault that they are drawing the Major Marvel titles, and as a result, that is what I buy. I guess there is a certain amount of blame that can be laid squarely at the feet of the writers. As little as I do pay attention to them, that is.

That’s it: It’s all Jason Aaron and Brian Michael Bendis’s fault.
